Gravitas Monster Aluminium Fountain Pen Ultem Black

The Gravitas Monster Aluminium Ultem Black fountain pen gives the Monster design a clean, completely black aesthetic. The combination of anodised bead-blasted aluminium, ULTEM and 304 stainless steel brings together lightness, durability and precision engineering, while the dark finish emphasises the technical and contemporary character of the pen.

Its proportions are based on the renowned Gravitas Vac and have been carefully refined to provide excellent balance while writing. Despite the Monster name, the pen remains well proportioned, with its weight distribution engineered to provide a substantial feel without becoming unnecessarily heavy. Inside the cap, a Delrin sleeve provides a smoother experience when capping, uncapping and posting the pen.

One of the Monster's most distinctive features is the Kraken Filling System, the original filling mechanism developed by Ben Walsh and inspired by the operation of mechanical heart valves. Its efficient construction provides an ink capacity of up to approximately 6 ml and allows a substantial volume of ink to be drawn into the pen even with a single plunge.

The Kraken Filling System uses a specialised quad-ring seal engineered to provide an effective seal. Its particular shape also retains lubricant between the contact points, helping the mechanism remain consistently lubricated and efficient over time.

Completing the pen's black aesthetic is a large Size 8 steel nib with a black PVD finish, paired with an ebonite feed and available in Extra Fine, Fine, Medium and Broad. The section can be unscrewed to make cleaning easier and provide access for lubrication and maintenance of the filling mechanism.
